How to Become a CPD Provider?

Filipino professionals of all fields licensed by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), are always in need to meet the requirement of CPD credit units for license renewal. So being a CPD provider would be a great way to promote the CPD program in the country and ensure that licensed professionals are up to date with industry standards.

CPD credit units can be given through seminars, conferences, lectures, etc. If this is something you’d like to explore, then read on.

To become a CPD provider in any kind of profession, there are a few requirements that should be met before the PRC recognizes you.

In this article, we will share in detail everything you need to know to become a CPD provider.

Who can be CPD providers?

Listed below are the two categories of CPD providers and what is required of each:

1. Local CPD providers

Under the local CPD providers, we have the (1) Individual/Sole Proprietor, (2) Firm/Partnership/Corporation, and (3) Government Institutions/Agencies.

a. Individual/Sole Proprietor

Here are the requirements for Individuals/Sole Proprietors to become CPD providers:

  • Resume
  • Valid Professional Identification Card (PIC)
  • Company Profile
  • Instructional Design
  • The annual plan of proposed CPD activities
  • DTI Certificate of Registration (authenticated copy)
  • NBI Clearance (original copy)
  • BIR Certificate of Registration (authenticated copy)
  • Affidavit of Undertaking

b. Firm/Partnership/Corporation

Here are the requirements for Firms/Partnerships/Corporations to become CPD providers:

  • Company Profile
  • List of officers with valid Professional Identification Card (PIC) if Registered and Licensed Professional
  • List and photographs of training equipment and facilities
  • Instructional Design
  • The annual plan of proposed CPD Activities
  • Appointment paper from the managing partner authorizing the partner to manage CPD activities; or Board Resolution/Secretary Certificate of a Corporation authorizing an officer to manage CPD activities.
  • SEC Certificate of Registration and Articles of Incorporation or Partnership and their respective Bylaws (authenticated copy)
  • BIR Certificate of Registration (authenticated copy)
  • Affidavit of Undertaking

c. Government Institution/Agency

Here are the requirements for Government Institutions/Agencies to become CPD providers:

  • Copy of charter or Republic Act establishing the agency
  • Instructional Design
  • The annual plan of proposed CPD Activities
  • Office Order or equivalent from the head of Agency appointing its officer to manage the CPD activities.

2. Foreign CPD providers

Here are the requirements for foreign institutions to become CPD providers:

  • Company Profile
  • List of Officers with current  Professional Identification Card (PIC) if applicable
  • List and photographs of training equipment and facilities
  • Instructional Design
  • The annual plan of proposed CPD Activities
  • Appointment paper from the managing partner authorizing the partner to manage CPD activities; or Board Resolution/Secretary Certificate of a Corporation authorizing an officer to manage CPD activities; or equivalent.
  • Proof of Registration of its creation in the country/state of the applicant which must be duly authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate in the said country/state and accompanied by an official English translation thereof.
  • Affidavit of Undertaking (CPDD-06) subscribed and sworn before Philippine Embassy/Consulate in the country/state of the applicant.

Process for Accreditation of CPD Program

  1. A CPD provider must apply for accreditation of its program to the CPD Council at least 45 days prior to the conduct of the activity.
  2. Indicate the number of times the program will be offered within the year to determine the processing fee. Process for Accreditation of CPD Program.
  3. CPD Provider of a particular profession may apply for accreditation of its program/s to other profession’s CPD Councils.

Prescribed Accreditation Fees

  • For local CPD providers, the prescribed accreditation fee is Php 5,000.00
  • For foreign CPD providers, the prescribed accreditation fee is Php 8,000.00
  • The prescribed accreditation fee of a CPD program per offering is Php 1,000.00
  • The prescribed accreditation fee per application of self-directed or lifelong learning is Php 500.00
  • The accreditation fee is waived for government providers and programs.

Processing Period

  • For CPD providers, the processing period is a maximum of 60 days.
  • For CPD programs, the processing period is a maximum of 45 days.

Reminders for CPD providers

Please take note of the following reminders for CPD providers and for those who are still planning on being accredited to become CPD providers:

  • Accreditation is valid for three (3) years, subject to renewal.
  • Revocation or suspension of accreditation is subject to due process.
  • An accredited CPD Provider of a particular profession may apply for accreditation of its Program/s to other professions subject to the approval of the CPD Council concerned.
