The Civil Service Commission – Civil Service Institute (CSC-CSI) invites all concerned public officials and servants to avail the following courses to be conducted by the Civil Service Institute (CSI) schedule this May of 2021.

Kwentong Lingkod Bayani

The Civil Service Institute (CSI) under the Civil Service Commission (CSC) will be conducting their form on values program that has been directed on a monthly basis. This values program will be highlighting the outstanding performance of government civil servants who have demonstrated public service values on PIES – otherwise known as Patriotism, Integrity, Excellence, and Spirituality.

The Kwentong Lingkod Bayani program of the Civil Service Institute will serve as a platform and avenue for sharing insights from dedicated and passionate individuals in their organization experiences and best practices that are aligned with PIES.

The importance of this program is also to acknowledge the adversities that the country is facing today. It also aims to recognize the hardworking organizations and individuals who have struggled and have often been challenged in regards to fortitude, resilience, and character – which have been ultimately championed and upheld in spite of the challenges.

Furthermore, fortitude, resilience, and character become the driving force of organizational and individual persistence to achieve the desired goals.

This event is targeted to be attended by public servants of a variety of government agencies in the country. This is also a call to action to all civil servants in transforming every Lingkod Bayani into PIES Advocates.

Objectives

Additionally, the Kwentong Lingkod Bayani of the Civil Service Institute aims to achieve the following:

  1. Appreciate the importance and necessity of accepting, applying, and advocating the Public Service values; as well as
  2. Characterize these best practices that are shared by different agencies.

Target Participants

All public servants are invited to join the program. However, a limit of 500 participants must be imposed on a first-come, first-serve basis, as the program will be held via a Zoom call. In case you may not make it, you can also join the program via the CSI PSV Facebook Page’s live streaming.

Registration for this program is FREE. Participants who will be present during the entire episode of the Zoom webinar and have submitted their reflections and insights on the link that will be provided by the end of the program will be given a Certificate of Completion with one (1) hour of leadership and managerial training.

Public Service Values in times of Adversities

This course has been conducted in batches by the Civil Service Institute. This workshop aims to strengthen and harness the core values of participants on how to be a Public Servant championing Patriotism, Integrity, Excellence, and Spirituality (PIES).

This workshop is all the more essential during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic which can enhance an organization’s capability in pursuing and sustaining strategic leadership and management.

Objectives

Additionally, the Public Service Values in times of Adversities Course of the Civil Service Institute aims to achieve the following:

  1. For participants to be able to strengthen and harness the core values that exemplify public service in their own workplace. This will, in turn, build up their organizational and personal resilience;
  2. Appreciate the importance of shared public service values and how to uphold them in delivering public service excellence – especially in times of adversities;
  3. Tackle various principles and concepts of public service values and their strategic application and practice in different government agencies in the country; and

Implement actionable plans that aim to strengthen and advocate the practice of public service values in their respective workplaces.

Target participants

A total of 300 Government Leaders, Executives, Managers, Division Chiefs, Supervisors or equivalent positions are invited to join the workshop.

Developmental Conversations for Leaders (Coaching the Coaches through Developmental Conversations)

Coaching and mentoring are modes of communication in the workplace that continuously needs to be enhanced to enable individuals to reach their full potentials – which can be achieved through developmental conversations.

This course on Developmental Conversations for Leaders by the Civil Service Institute aims to guide its participants to productively and effectively direct developmental conversations with peers through the use of a structured approach.

This course specifically utilizes group coaching/mentoring to develop all coaches and mentors by guiding them through the different process stages of developmental conversations.

Objectives

Additionally, the Public Service Values in times of Adversities Course aims to achieve the following:

  1. To help participants effectively conduct such conversations with peers using a structured approach that is grounded on universally accepted notions, procedures, and practices that are related to coaching and mentoring;
  2. For participants to appreciate developmental conversation as an effective and productive workplace learning approach;
  3. Connect with a potential learner to start a series of developmental conversation sessions;
  4. Contract with learner to establish learning objectives, level-off expectations and sign off agreements ;
  5. Clarify goals, issues, concerns, and decisions of the learner;
  6. Challenge, critique, contribute ideas, and create insights to deepen learning;
  7. Connect learners to resources and opportunities that will further support learning;
  8. Cheer, confirm, and celebrate accomplishments to encourage learners; and,
  9. Close developmental conversation agreement formally as a means towards moving forward.
